Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced today that the Missouri Stay-at-Home order will be extended through May 3rd so the state can prepare to reopen the economy and get Missourians back to work. Governor Parson said "Between now and May the 4th we will continue to monitor the situation and work with Missouri hospitals, healthcare providers, public health experts, business leaders, and state departments to develop a plan with the safety of Missourians at it's core."
Governor Parson explained that there are four important steps to getting the state back to normal including:
- Rapidly expanding testing capacity including testing for those who are currently contagious and those who have developed immunity
- Expand our reserves of PPE by opening public and private supply chains and continuing to utilize Missouri businesses in that effort
- Continue to monitor and if necessary expand hospital and healthcare systems capacity
- Improve our ability to prevent potential outbreaks by using Missouri data
