Springfield Neighborhood Advisory Council Hosts Municipal Candidate Forums

Have questions for candidates running for seats up for grabs in the April 2 election? Get them answered at candidate forums organized by the Neighborhood Advisory Council.

Amos Bridges, investigative editor at the News-Leader, will moderate discussions with all candidates at each of the two forums. Candidates will be asked questions randomly drawn from a pool of questions submitted prior to the events. To ensure candid responses, the candidates will have no prior knowledge of the questions. The events will also feature a breakout session for candidates vying for the Zone 3 seat and the opportunity for voters to meet the candidates and ask questions of their own.

Details are:

  • March 10: 2-5 p.m., Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3555 S. Fremont Ave.
  • March 17: 2-5 p.m., Drury University’s Findlay Student Center, 900 N. Benton Ave.

Candidates scheduled to appear:

  • Zone 2: Abe McGull
  • Zone 3: Noah Snelson and Mike Schilling
  • Zone 4: Matthew Simpson
  • General C: Andrew Lear, Jaye Owens and Amy Champlin
  • General D: Richard Ollis

Voters also will have the opportunity to meet candidates for the Springfield R-12 Board of Education at a forum sponsored by the NAC in conjunction with the League of Women Voters. That forum will be at 4 p.m. at the March 17 event. Candidates Alina Lehnert, Charles Taylor and Shurita Thomas-Tate will participate in the moderated forum.
