Creepy Creatures Man Found Wriggling On Kitchen Floor Has Experts Stumped

Facebook can be great for keeping up with friends, seeing what celebrities are up to, and complaining about whatever is bothering you, but it is also a fantastic place to go for answers. No matter the question you might have, there is likely someone with an answer for you on the social media platform, so it makes sense that Tim Clerke turned to Facebook to find the answer to a very strange question. The New Zealand native discovered small, faceless, rat-tailed creatures wriggling on his mother's kitchen floor. He posted a video of the creepy crawlers asking the world what they could be.

Tim captioned the clip, "My mother found these on the kitchen floor this morning. One is still alive. Anyone know what they are? Nikki is horrified and will have nightmares for weeks!"

He's gotten hundreds of responses, but unfortunately, none of them definitively answer him. The most popular guess was baby rats, but these creatures are too small to be rats. Other people suggested deformed mice and miniature bats. Finally, some experts weighed in, but they were just as baffled as the rest of us.

An entomology team from Biosecurity New Zealand surmised they are the detached legs of a moth, stating, "They suggest that something [possibly a cat] had just recently eaten the body of the moth, which may explain why a few of the legs were still twitching."

Meanwhile, another insect expert felt they are possibly rat-tailed maggots.

As yet, the creatures haven't been conclusively identified.
