Selena Gomez's Mom Was "Helpless" During Her Kidney Transplant

Selena Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefy, has taken to Instagram to open up about her daughter's kidney transplant. While Selena and her family were able to keep the surgery private for a long time, both Selena and her mom are now being open about the difficult situation. Teefy's heart wrenching post on Instagram shows how truly helpless she felt when her daughter was in need of a new kidney.

"As a mother I was helpless, scared and all I could do was pray for both of them, Francia's beautiful family," Teefy wrote. "I am pretty sure I am banned from that hospital. Mama Bear was in high gear. Selena gained a kidney, I was able to keep my little girl, but I also gained another daughter."

Despite feeling helpless, Teefy is able to look back on the situation now and feel confident that her family can get through anything. "This picture is one of the most breathtaking images that will live with me forever," Teefy said of the now infamous image of Selena Gomez alongside her donor and best friend Francia Raisa in a hospital bed. "For all those moments of not knowing if we were going up or going down, I can always come back to this picture and know we can always make it back up."

She went on thank everybody who was there for her daughter, as well as Francia during this time. "We survived from all the love, prayers, and God" she wrote. We're so happy Selena, Francia, and their families are doing well. Stay strong, everybody.
