California surf meets Motor City soul when two of America’s all-time favorite bands perform together, as THE BEACH BOYS and THE TEMPTATIONS bring their “Surf & Soul Tour” to Juanita K. Hammons Hall.

Calling The Beach Boys “legends” is an understatement. Their multi-layer harmonies, unmistakable 1960s surf rock sound and laid-back style launched them into worldwide fame, while simultaneously shaping the future of pop music forever. Fifty years, 100 million albums sold, and an induction into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame later, The Beach Boys are the top-selling American band of all time. And with musical masterpieces like “Surfin’ USA”, “Pet Sounds” and “Kokomo”, it’s no surprise The Beach Boys took home the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy award. The band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions, but its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt.

The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeff Foskett, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Brian Eichenberger and Scott Totten continue the legacy of this iconic American band.

Adding a side of soul to The Beach Boys’ surf are the smooth and very funky Temptations, known for their Motown smash hits “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “My Girl” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”. With the help of writer/producer Smokey Robinson, they embodied the heart and soul of Motor City USA. Over the course of their career, the band has won three Grammy awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. With tens of millions of albums sold, The Temptations are one of the most successful groups in music history and were highly influential in the evolution of R&B and soul music. In addition to their fabulous singing, The Temptations are known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations; their “Temptations Walk” has become a staple of American performing style.
